How to use the Brain.
Last updated: October 29, 2026
What to put in
The Brain holds your files. Mini reads them when it answers you, so put in anything you'd otherwise explain twice.
- Your business: what you sell, your prices, who your customers are.
- How you work: checklists, templates, the steps for a refund or a new client.
- People: a note on each client, partner and teammate.
- Reference: PDFs, Word docs and contracts you already have.
Your meeting notes land here on their own, one file per meeting in OneKit → Meetings.
Add your files
Open Brain in the left bar. Your things live in My files.
- Drag files onto the page, or press Choose files at the top of My files.
- Mini reads each one and puts it in a folder. A message says where it went, with Undo if you'd rather it went somewhere else.
To write something yourself, type in Jot something and press Enter for a quick note, or ⌘↵ for a new page. + New makes a Note, Smart Document, Slides, Canvas or Folder.
PDFs and Word files keep their words, not their layout, so a scanned PDF comes in empty. Each file can be up to 20 MB, 50 at a time. Pictures, videos and spreadsheets are kept as they are.
Point Mini at a note with @ or /add
In Mini's chat, type @ and the start of a name. Or type /add and a name on its own line. Pick a note or a folder from the list and it sits in the box as a pill.
Mini reads it when you send, so it always gets the latest version. A folder gives Mini up to 8 notes from inside it.
On the chat's home screen, the Brain button at the top right opens your files beside the chat. Click a row to add it, or drag rows onto the box.
Folders Mini understands
You don't have to point every time. Mini sees your top folders and what each one is for, and opens the ones that fit your question.
A folder's description tells Mini when to use it. Write "Read before writing to a client" on your Clients folder, and Mini opens it first whenever you ask for a client email.
To describe a folder, open a note inside it, press ⋯, then Show page info. Hover the folder's name and press Describe this folder. Each night Mini fills in folders you left blank. It never changes a description you wrote.
To make a folder, press + New → Folder, or right-click a folder to make one inside it. To move a note, drag it onto a folder or press Move to… in its ⋯ menu.
Keep a note safe
- Lock (in a note's ⋯ menu) makes it read-only. Mini can't change it, and neither can you until you unlock it.
- History (same menu) shows every version, marked Mini or You. Press Restore to go back to one.
- Mini asks before it writes, saves or deletes anything in your Brain. You say yes in the chat.
- Archive takes a note out of your files, and you can't bring it back from the app yet. Lock it if you only want it left alone.
The Brain and Mini's memory
They're two different things. The Brain is your files, and Mini opens them when it needs them. Mini's memory is short facts it picks up from your chats, like your company's name or how you sign your emails.
See those facts in Brain → Mini → Memory. Press Forget on any of them, or Keep this forever to keep one in every chat.
The switches are in Settings → Mini me → Memory. All three start on:
- Mini remembers what matters to you. Turn it off and Mini forgets you after each chat.
- Mini tidies up what it learned. Each night, Mini goes over what it picked up that day.
- Learn from my meetings. Mini learns from your meeting notes too.
Today Mini doesn't remember chats that used your mail or calendar. The next update adds a switch for that.
Try these
- Drop in your price list, then ask Mini: "A client wants 3 months. What do I charge?"
- Make a Clients folder, describe it "Read before writing to a client", and add a note for each client. Then ask: "Write Dana a follow-up on yesterday's call."
- Type @, pick your onboarding checklist, and ask: "Turn this into a welcome email for new clients."
- After a meeting, ask: "What did we agree on in today's call with the designer?"
- When Mini writes something you like, say "Save this as a note in Clients." Mini shows a card, and you say yes.
